Building Control Final Certificate

If your proposed location requires building regulations approval, CQC may expect you to provide a Building Control Final Certificate as part of your registration evidence.

Why this matters for your registration

  • •It helps show that relevant building work has been completed and formally approved.
  • •CQC may need this before arranging a site visit where building control approval applies.
  • •If approval is required but the final certificate is missing, the location may not be ready for registration.

What you should prepare

  • •The final certificate for the correct premises included in your application.
  • •A certificate issued by Local Authority Building Control (LABC) or Approved Inspector Building Control (AIBC).
  • •Premises details that match the location information in your CQC application.
  • •Related premises documents where relevant, such as planning, occupancy or safety evidence.

Before you submit

  • •Confirm whether your location actually needs building regulations approval.
  • •Make sure the work is complete and the final certificate has been issued.
  • •Check that the certificate relates to the exact premises in your application.
  • •Do not confuse building control approval with planning permission.
