CQC registration document guidance

Financial Viability Statement

A Financial Viability Statement is only required for some provider applicants. Many care homes, home care agencies and supported living services are normally exempt, but you should always check the latest CQC requirements for your provider type.

Why this matters for your registration

  • •Where required, it gives CQC assurance that the proposed organisation has sufficient financial resources to operate safely and sustainably.
  • •It must come from an appropriately qualified and independent financial professional.
  • •The information needs to fit with the rest of your application, especially your business plan and service model.

What you should prepare

  • •Your business details, address, applicant name and position.
  • •Financial specialist details, registration or accreditation body and signature.
  • •A professional opinion stating whether the business is financially viable.
  • •Financial information consistent with your Business Plan, forecasts and Statement of Purpose.

Before you submit

  • •Confirm first whether your service actually needs a Financial Viability Statement.
  • •Use an appropriately qualified, independent accountant or FCA-regulated firm.
  • •Do not use a friend or relative to sign the statement.
  • •Keep all financial information consistent across your application documents.
